The summer is a rollin' along....

July 18th already!!!
Where did the other 17 days go?
Lots of King and Queen vs.King.
Lots of Capture the Flag, and snack time.
Lots of Alexander Alekhine, and rapid attacks.
Lots of all of it!
Next stop, counting sheep!

Vacation Time

I love the stress free moments of a well earned vacation.
An unexpected, blissful day of no deadlines, appointments, or traffic hassles.
A tad boring, perhaps, but oh so nice!

Quandry

In this day and age the practice of a clear, decision making process is crucial to survival.
When stuck in the mire of confusion, a clear head is necessary to progress through the muck.
There are many decisions that sometimes bump into each other with vigorous velocity.
Fear of mistakes can freeze you if you allow it to.
Nimbleness of thought and fluidity of creativity is the juice to the breakfast of life!
Eat up!

Building to a boil

Some days start slow.
Some start fast.
Some start gradually
But all days pass

Sunday morning find

Happy Father's Day!
In the endless attempt to keep my office area somewhat in order(hopeless!!), I came across this quote in the swamp:
"It is necessary to try to surpass one's self always; this occupation ought to last as long as life"-Christina of Sweden

Summertime

Last week the camp season began with a wimper.
There were a total of 8 happy children that I shared a week with at the Cape St Claire Clubhouse for five days.
The show rolls into Chesapeake Children's Museum at 8:45 am on Monday Morning.
I look forward to more "Control the Center, Develop the Pieces, Protect the King".
My favorite idea was of the two Bishops. What is their strenghth?
The can pin two different pieces at the same time(idea pointed out in Morphy vs.Two Victims).
More later

June has arrived

Transition, transition, transition!
From school to camp.
Hot, but that is OK.
Onward to the summer!

Another piece of my past

Gary Coleman, dies at 42!
In the past 5 years a lot of my past has died.
The future is bright, but promised to no one.
I do appreciate the gifts of the modern(2010) world.
There is something heartfelt when part of the past dies.
Something to reflect, if not briefly upon.

I don't know

When shall stability return to the landscape?
When shall the bills begin to be paid?
When will the tumultuous times calm down.
How may be a better question.
As Ozzy said in "The Blizzard of Ozz"
"Don't ask me, I don't know........

Zoom, zoom, and out

Time to rev up the chariot and head down route 50.
Brief, because time has elasped.
Ciao

Continue, continue, continue

The good and bad are blending together today.
The year has been good, but I am ready for the next leg up!
I would like life for myself and Tonia to be better than just a series of struggles, in between a series of crises.
Steady would be nice!

A quote that got my attention

I like this one, so I will share it here:
"The years between fifty and seventy are the hardest.
You are always being asked to do more,
And you are not yet decrepit enough to turn them down."
--T.S. Eliot

The morning after

I have forgotten the feeling of weariness after 8 hours of chess play. Close, but no cigar!
However, I feel much better about this game, and my ability looking at it with a clearer head.
I am still a fan of my favorite team no matter how many times they disappoimt me.
The work has begun again!
How long will the repair take?
Only Caissa knows!

Busy week

On the Eastern shore twice this week.
Lots of driving.
Lots of chess.
More to come.
Slowing down to start up again.
Life's constant song!

New day, new post

Getting into the flow.
I am sure that I can get carried away with the bells and whistles available, but I pause.
The world is getting smaller, but I am enjoying it more.
Peace to all of my fellow travelers.

It is a blur

This time of year I wind down and crank up at the same time.
Some new found conveniences have helped matters much.
I have decided to let my chess team battle without me tonight.
I need to prepare to play at an acceptable level with them in the future.
I am under construction, while operating at a high frequency.
Cool, yes!

Out the door

Time flies, and so must I.
Been a nice morning, but the afternoon is upon us.
Of to Vienna by way of DC.
Not many comments, so I must get the blog out there!
Ciao.

Tuesday Afternoon

A nice relief from the educational battleground.
In addition the Capital Beltway will not have me in its clutches today.
I can blog, write and play today.
Joining my fellows tonight.
Enjoy, enjoy, the time is now.
Oh boy, oh boy.
Its wonderful, and how!!!

First Monday of May

A wacky wild beginning of the month.
I will be heading off to Key School in about an hour.
A communication break must be repaired.
It happens.
Thus is life in the big city.
More to give.
More to receive.
More to come!!

The last of April

This month has vanished before my very eyes.
The chess portion of this blog is due to grow in the next month.
Lots of ideas are coming from the internal combustion engine.
The external sources will crank up as well.
Westward ho!!!
Greg

Creating a bed

I spent the last glorious minutes of this georgeous morning helping Tonia assemble a rollaway bed in the guest room. Great fun if you like that kind of thing.
Three weeks left in this semester's Eastern Shore journey.
It is always fun to go East. I would like more opportunities there in the future.
In a half an hour it will be off to the West.
Power to the people !!!

Daily thought

Ideas must be raised like children.
If they are cared for, and loved, they will blossom into wonderful adulthood.

Home is where the hearth is

A nice flame is a burning.
Cozy and warm.
A nice meal consumed with my honey nearby.
What's not to like!
Slothfully moving to rejoice surviving the days battles.
The pace is slow and tame.
Excitement?
I can create that in a breath.
Let's not and say I did!

New news

I have created a group on Facebook called "UnionKnight's Chess Universe".
I am inviting all to come and share, and grow with me.
More will be revealed as we go.
It is almost 10, and the art of efficiency must be practiced.
Over and out!

Almost food

Darling zoomed out out the condo looking for her favorite product.

I did not purchase it today.

Trying to help, but seems to be no help.

Here we go!

Off to the White Oaks Challenge

It is time to float over the Potomac for another qualifier.

This is the last of the year that I will be part of.

The school year is lowering its curtain ever so slowly.

No Anand-Topalov today, but beat a few GMs on ICC.

Feels quite nice.
One day folks will join me and share more, but for now, this is what we have.
Over and out.

Follow up to the previous

A thunderstorm is upon us. This will be a quick post before the computer becomes toast.
I believe in what Tony Bennett says"The best is yet to come.
I will learn how this medium shines and shien along in my twilight.

Can you become a star in your twilight?

Some kids in my head

I am teaching and learning, at the speed of Adult sound. Some slow days, some normal days. Creativity is a blessing. To share to the next generations, helps the daily flow.
Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder

The first of the blog

I don't know if this will catch, but the juices shall flow if we persist.

To write, perchance to blog.

Through rain , snow, flog.

There must be a reason to go through this treason. To get bogged down on the blog!
